The blacksmith’s forge is where the canal company’s ironwork used to be made. Today, the forge is still in use and home to the museum’s resident blacksmith Alex Price.
You will find some of the smaller items made in the forge, such as candle holders, door knockers and horse shoes, on sale in the museum shop.
Alex will also be happy to talk to you about original commissions and larger works such as gates and railings.
To see the blacksmith at work
Alex is on site most days, Monday to Friday plus some event days. Whilst he is always busy with his work, he is also happy to be asked questions.
To make a specific appointment, call Alex on 0151 355 7267.
