Loan boxes

Bringing learning to life in the classroom

Museum loan boxes give children the chance to handle real museum objects from the past. Items are selected to spark off discussion, and to interest and inspire children.

National Waterways Museum Loan Boxes are available on the following themes;

  • Ribbon Plates and Oakham - A Narrowboat Life
  • Canal Life
  • Domestic Life, 1930s to 1950s
  • Victorian Domestic Life
  • World War Two
  • Boat Building

Depending on the subject, loan box contents range from horse brasses and cookery books to clogs, dolly tubs and parafin lamps.

Loan boxes cost £15 per three week loan.

For more information or to book a loan box email or call Helen Evans on 0151 373 4393.
