Learning tours

In addition to our Learning Programmes we offer a range of guided tours to help your group explore the site. Each tour is categorised by age range.

Infant

Curriculum links: KS1 History

Children visit the Blacksmith in his forge, learn about canal horses and experience what family life would have been like aboard a narrowboat.
Duration: 45 minutes

Junior
Curriculum links: KS2 History SU3A

Aimed at older primary school children, this tour traces the history of the canals, their economic development and the social history of people who lived and worked on the waterways.
Duration: 45 minutes

Senior
Curriculum links: KS3 History

An introduction to the history of the dock complex, the canals and their links with Britain’s industrial past.
Duration: 45 minutes
